This policy explains how the Crisp Scan app ("the app") handles information.
In short: the documents you scan stay on your own device — we have no server storing them and we never see them. The app requires no account and asks for no storage permission. Some technical data is collected by third-party services (ads and subscriptions), as explained below.
1. Who is responsible
Crisp Scan is developed and operated by Reginaldo Vitor Botelho (BotNow), the data controller. For anything related to privacy, contact us at contato@botnow.com.br.
2. Your documents stay on your device
Scanned images, document names, folders and their organisation are stored locally on your device. They are not sent to us or to any server under our control. We have no access to your documents, we do not view them and we do not copy them.
Uninstalling the app, or deleting a document inside it, removes that data from the device — including the images in the app's internal storage. Export the PDF first if you want to keep it.
3. Permissions
The app requests camera access solely to scan documents, and only while the capture screen is open. The camera is never used in the background or for any other purpose.
Crisp Scan does not request storage permission. When you export a PDF, the file is handed to your system's share sheet, and you choose where to save it or who to send it to.
4. Text recognition (OCR)
The app recognises the text on scanned pages so you can search by document content and copy the text. This recognition runs entirely on your device, using Google ML Kit, without sending images to any server.
The recognised text is stored only on your device, alongside the document, and is deleted with it.
5. Data collected by third-party services
To keep the app free and to process the Premium subscription, we use third-party services that may collect technical data from your device. This data never includes the images or contents of your documents.

6. Ads and your choices
The free version shows ads served by Google AdMob. You can limit personalised ads at any time in your device settings by resetting or disabling the advertising identifier (on Android: "Ads"). Subscribing to Premium removes ads entirely.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the app shows Google's consent form before loading any ad, and you can review your choice at any time under Settings → Ad privacy inside the app.
7. Legal basis
We process data on the basis of performance of a contract (providing the app and the subscription you purchased) and legitimate interests (keeping the service free through advertising and ensuring it works securely), always respecting your rights. Where applicable, personalised advertising relies on your consent, which can be withdrawn in your device settings or inside the app.
8. Sharing
We do not sell or rent personal data. Sharing is limited to the essential third-party services listed in section 5. We may disclose information if required by law or a competent authority.
9. Retention and deletion
Because your documents stay on your device, you control them and can delete them at any time (see the Delete data page). Data handled by third-party services follows each provider's retention periods.
10. Your rights
You may request access, correction, portability, information about sharing, and deletion of the personal data processed, as well as withdraw consent. To exercise any right, write to contato@botnow.com.br.
11. Children
Crisp Scan is not intended for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be on this page, with the last update date shown at the top.
